OMC Johnson Evinrude Shift Rod Nut Keeper — Part Number 325625

Brand: OMC Johnson Evinrude | Condition: New Old Stock (NOS)

Genuine OMC factory part number 325625 (also catalogued as 0325625), the shift rod nut keeper used across the Johnson and Evinrude 20, 25, 30 and 35 horsepower outboard range. This small keeper locks the shift rod connector nut so the shift linkage cannot work itself loose under vibration — a part that costs almost nothing and prevents a motor that will not come out of gear on the water. It is new old stock from long-term dealer inventory and is a genuine OMC/BRP component, not an aftermarket copy. These OMC powerheads have been out of production for years and original-numbered small parts like this one are steadily drying up as remaining dealer stock is consumed.

Condition Details

New old stock. The keeper is unused and has never been installed. As with all warehouse-stored inventory, the packaging may show shelf wear, dust, fading, price stickers, scuffs or minor crushing from stacking; some OMC small parts of this era were supplied in plain dealer bulk packaging rather than branded blister packs. The part itself is undamaged with no cracks, distortion or thread damage. Please review all photos, as what is pictured is what you will receive.

  • Function: retains and locks the shift rod connector nut on the shift linkage
  • Location: shift rod / gearcase shift linkage, upper and lower shift rod positions
  • Material: molded polymer (commonly described as nylon)
  • Sold: each
  • Genuine OEM, not aftermarket

Superseded & Cross Reference Part Numbers

  • OMC / BRP: 325625, 0325625
  • Also referenced in some OEM supersession tables alongside 0766436 — buyers who were given that number by a dealer should confirm the current interchange with their parts supplier before ordering
  • Aftermarket equivalents are produced by several suppliers under the 0325625 reference; this listing is for the genuine OMC part

Features

  • Genuine OMC factory part, built to the original engineering specification
  • Locks the shift rod connector nut so shift adjustment holds its setting
  • Molded polymer construction — will not corrode, seize or gall against the shift rod in a saltwater environment, unlike a steel lock device
  • Non-conductive and non-galvanic, so it will not set up corrosion against the aluminium gearcase or the steel shift rod
  • Direct fit, no modification or trimming required
  • Covers a wide model range, so one part number serves 20 through 35 horsepower across roughly two decades of production
  • Inexpensive insurance against a shift linkage that drifts out of adjustment and leaves the motor stuck in or out of gear

Application

Fits Johnson and Evinrude outboards in the 20, 25, 30 and 35 horsepower range, approximately 1981 through 2005 depending on model. Reported applications include:

  • Evinrude 20 HP, 25 HP, 30 HP and 35 HP, roughly 1984 through 1999
  • Johnson 20 HP, 25 HP, 30 HP and 35 HP, roughly 1981 through 2005
  • Appears in the gearcase / shift rod section of the OMC parts catalogue for these models
  • Used in both upper and lower shift rod positions depending on the configuration

OMC used this keeper across a long production run with several shift linkage variations, so buyers should confirm the number against the parts catalogue or exploded diagram for their specific model and year before ordering. If you have your model number and year, feel free to message us and we will check it against the listing.

Why Choose OMC Johnson Evinrude?

Outboard Marine Corporation built Johnson and Evinrude outboards for most of the twentieth century and set the standard for American two-stroke outboard engineering. OMC-numbered parts were manufactured to tight factory tolerances and specified for the marine environment, which is why decades-old OMC motors are still running today. With OMC production long ended, genuine factory-numbered parts are a finite supply — once dealer stock is gone, owners are left with aftermarket substitutes of varying quality. A genuine OMC part guarantees the exact fit and material the engineers specified.
