OMC Johnson Evinrude Tiller Throttle Control Indicator Plate — Part Number 319215
Brand: OMC Johnson Evinrude | Condition: New Old Stock (NOS)
Genuine OMC throttle control indicator plate for Johnson and Evinrude tiller-handle outboards, part number 319215. This is the marked plate mounted to the steering handle that carries the throttle position scale — the graduated face that the twist-grip throttle pointer sweeps across, showing the operator where the throttle is set between slow, fast and the starting position. It is the part of a tiller handle that tells you what the motor is doing before you open it up. This number is discontinued and no longer supplied by BRP, and it is one of the pieces that almost never survives in good condition on a used motor: the markings are exposed on top of the handle, where forty years of sun, spray and thumbs wear them away. A tired, faded, corroded indicator plate makes an otherwise sharp restoration look wrong. A new one fixes that in about five minutes.
Condition Details
New Old Stock — never installed, never mounted to a handle. This plate has been in dealer or distributor inventory and is sold exactly as it came off the shelf, which means the one thing that matters most on this particular part is intact: the markings are crisp and unfaded. Packaging may show shelf wear, dust, handling creases, faded or discolored printing, old price stickers, or shelf dirt from long-term storage, and OMC small parts were often broken out of bulk packaging by dealers, so the bag may be a dealer repack rather than a sealed factory bag. The plate itself may carry light surface handling marks or minor storage tarnish consistent with decades of dry storage. If you want a sharp, legible throttle scale on your tiller and you do not care that its bag has been sitting in a parts drawer since the Reagan administration, this is the listing for you.

OMC never published dimensional data for this plate, and because the number has been purged from every current parts database there is no retail listing carrying measurements either. If you need the outside dimensions, thickness, or mounting hole spacing to compare against the plate on your handle, message me and I will put calipers on it and send you the actual figures.
Superseded & Cross Reference Part Numbers
- OMC 319215
- OMC 0319215 (BRP seven-digit form of the same number)
There is no supersession on this part. OMC never issued a replacement number, which is why it went discontinued outright rather than being carried forward — and it is why there is no current substitute at any dealer.
Important — do not confuse this with its neighbours. OMC numbered the tiller throttle indicator plates consecutively, one number per horsepower family, and they are only one digit apart:
- 319212 — 40 and 50 HP tiller handle indicator plate
- 319214 — 9.9 and 15 HP throttle control plate
- 319215 — this plate
These are different parts for different engines, not alternates for each other. If your parts diagram calls for 319214 or 319212, this is not your plate. Check the number on your own diagram before ordering, and if you are unsure, message me and I will help you confirm it.
Features
- Genuine OMC factory part, not a reproduction or a reprinted decal
- Discontinued and no longer available from BRP — no current production, no replacement number
- Crisp, unfaded throttle markings — the whole reason to buy this part new
- Correct mounting pattern for the OMC tiller handle it belongs to
- Restores the correct factory appearance to a tiller handle
- Five-minute installation with basic hand tools
- Unused shelf stock, not a cleaned-up used plate with worn graphics
Application
Johnson and Evinrude tiller-handle outboards using OMC throttle control plate 319215. Factory parts-diagram records place this plate in the Steering Handle group on 1984 Evinrude 30 HP (E30ECRR) and 1984 Evinrude 35 HP (E35RLCRR) models, and the number is confirmed present in BRP’s own electronic parts catalogue. Given that OMC assigned 319212 to the 40/50 HP handles and 319214 to the 9.9/15 HP handles, this plate sits in the 30–35 HP range, and OMC typically carried a tiller handle design across several model years rather than changing it annually, so coverage is likely broader than the two models documented above.
Because OMC’s current parts data no longer carries this number at all, the reliable way to confirm fitment is your own parts diagram or service manual: look in the Steering Handle or Throttle Control section for 319215 or 0319215. If you give me your engine model and serial number I am happy to help you check. Please also compare against the neighbour numbers listed in the cross reference section above, since one digit separates three different plates.
Why Choose OMC Johnson Evinrude?
There is no aftermarket for a part like this. Nobody reproduces OMC tiller throttle indicator plates, because the market is restorers and the tooling would never pay for itself — which means the choice is a genuine OMC plate or a used one scavenged off a parts motor with graphics that are already half gone. OMC made these as a stamped and marked assembly to a specification that matched the handle casting, the grip travel, and the throttle linkage geometry, so the scale actually corresponds to what the carburetor is doing. A plate from a different engine may bolt on and still read wrong. And on a part whose entire job is to be legible, condition is not cosmetic — a new plate with sharp markings does the job, and a weathered one does not. Discontinued, unused factory stock is the only version of this part that is still correct in every respect.
