Mercury Quicksilver Throttle / Shift Cable Cup — Part Number 39519
Brand: Mercury Quicksilver | Condition: New Old Stock (NOS)
Genuine Mercury Quicksilver original equipment cup, part number 39519. Mercury catalogues it simply as Cup; functionally it is the throttle and shift control cable retainer cup — the piece that seats the cable’s adjustment barrel in the linkage so the barrel can be adjusted and held. Used across the Mercury outboard range from 20 HP through 125 HP. From original dealer stock, in Quicksilver packaging, never fitted.
Condition Details
New Old Stock. The cup is new and unused, never fitted. As with all NOS stock, the original Quicksilver packaging may show shelf wear, dust, discoloration, handling marks, or age-related dirt, and printing may be faded. The part is sold as new; the packaging is sold as-is. The cup is true and undamaged with no distortion, spreading, or wear at the seat.

What this part actually does
The throttle and shift cables on these outboards terminate in a threaded adjustment barrel. That barrel has to sit in a seat that holds it square while allowing it to be turned for adjustment. This cup is that seat. Without it, or with a worn or spread one, the barrel will not hold position — the cable adjustment walks, and the engine either will not reach full throttle, will not return to idle, or will not shift cleanly.
It is a part that is almost always lost rather than worn out. It comes free when a cable is disconnected, goes into the bilge or the grass, and the rigging job stops until another one turns up.
Superseded & Cross Reference Part Numbers
- Mercury Quicksilver: 39519
- Sometimes catalogued by riggers as: P-025G-439
No Sierra, GLM, or other aftermarket cross reference is published for this part. Cross references are provided to help identify the correct item — please verify against your own parts diagram before ordering.
Features
- Genuine Mercury Quicksilver original equipment, moulded and sized to seat the factory cable barrel
- Very wide application — documented across 20, 25, 30, 40, 65, 75, 80, 90, 100, 115 and 125 HP Mercury outboards. One small part across most of Mercury’s mid-range production
- This is a rigging part, which means it is needed urgently. Nobody orders one of these in advance. They order it because a cable is disconnected and the boat is going nowhere until the barrel seats properly
- Still carries the original Mercury number, so it matches what the throttle and shift linkage diagram calls out
- Small, light and inexpensive — but specified. A substitute of roughly the right shape will not hold a barrel square
Application
Mercury outboard motors, throttle and shift linkage / control cable rigging:

Documented in Mercury’s throttle and shift linkage groups, including the tiller handle shift arrangements on the 20 and 25 HP two-cylinder models.
This is a general application guide. Mercury revised the throttle and shift linkage across model years and serial ranges. Please confirm 39519 against your engine’s throttle and shift linkage diagram and the callout number for your position before ordering. If you are unsure, send us a message with your model and serial number and we will check it with you.
Why Choose Mercury Quicksilver?
Mercury Marine has built outboards since 1939, and Quicksilver is the parts line Mercury supplies for its own engines. A cable cup is about as humble as a part gets and it is still a specified component. Its job is to hold a threaded barrel square to the linkage under the load of a control cable that is being pushed and pulled thousands of times a season, and to let that barrel be adjusted without losing its seat. The internal profile is sized to the barrel, and the material has to hold its shape rather than spreading under load. Mercury gave it a number because a control linkage that goes out of adjustment is not an inconvenience on a boat — it is a throttle or a gear selector that does not do what the helm asks.

Thank you for looking at this listing. We are a small parts business and we work hard to describe every part accurately, including the condition of NOS packaging and what a part actually does. If anything about this part is not what you expected when it arrives, please contact us first and give us the chance to make it right. We will always work with you.
