Fleetguard Hydraulic Filter, Spin-On — Part Number HF6720
Brand: Fleetguard | Condition: New Old Stock (NOS)
Genuine Fleetguard spin-on hydraulic filter, part number HF6720. A 1½-16 UN-2B threaded spin-on with cellulose media, 129 mm diameter and 170 mm tall, used across an unusually wide range of mobile and industrial hydraulic systems — John Deere, Toro, AGCO, Manitou, Caterpillar and Leroi on the equipment side, and Vickers, Parker, Pall, Hydac, Stauff and MP Filtri on the hydraulic component side. From original dealer stock, in Fleetguard packaging, never fitted.
Condition Details
New Old Stock. The filter is new and unused, never installed and never exposed to fluid. As with all NOS stock, the original Fleetguard box or wrapper may show shelf wear, dust, discoloration, crushed corners, or age-related dirt. The part is sold as new; the packaging is sold as-is. The can is undented, the threads are clean, the sealing gasket is supple with no cracking or set, and the media is clean and dry.

- Manufacturer: Fleetguard — Cummins Filtration
On the three efficiency figures: 14 µm is the nominal rating; the beta figures are the real engineering specification — 99.5% at 25 micron (β200) and 98.7% at 23 micron (β75). Nominal ratings always read finer than beta ratings. The 25 micron figure is corroborated independently by the part numbers of several equivalents, which carry it in the number itself — MP Filtri CSG100P25, Hydac MFE160252 and Zinga GCE25.

A note on the Baldwin cross. Some cross tables list both BT287 and BT387 against HF6720. BT287 is the correct one — it is sold explicitly as the HF6720 equivalent and its published 1½ in thread and 23 micron rating match this filter exactly. BT387 is a 7-inch spin-on, against HF6720’s 6.71 inches, and we are not claiming it as an equivalent. If your records show BT387, message us and we will check it with you before you buy.
Higher-efficiency options exist in the Baldwin line if your application needs them — BT287-10 is a 10 micron version and BT287-3 a 3 micron version. This Fleetguard filter is the standard 25 micron grade. If your specification calls for 10 or 3 micron, this is not that filter.
Features
- Genuine Fleetguard — the filtration brand of Cummins Filtration, an original equipment supplier rather than a copy house
- One of the broadest interchange ranges of any hydraulic spin-on. Fourteen hydraulic component brands, seven equipment OEMs and fourteen filter brands. If you have a 1½-16 spin-on hydraulic filter of roughly this size, there is a strong chance this is it
- Spin-on, not a cartridge. No housing to open, no separate seal to source — it threads on and the gasket is integral
- Published beta ratings at two points, plus the nominal figure, so the specification can be matched to whatever your maintenance schedule quotes
- Factory-packed six to a box, which is how the fleet and farm market buys them
- A hydraulic filter is the cheapest item in the circuit and the only thing between the reservoir and the pump, the valves and the cylinders
Application
Mobile and industrial hydraulic systems, return and low-pressure circuits:
- John Deere — applications calling for AR43261
- Toro — applications calling for 282110, 570990 or 743610
- AGCO — applications calling for L080031
- Manitou, Leroi, Caterpillar
- Vickers, Parker, Pall, Hydac, Stauff and MP Filtri filter housings per the numbers above
Baldwin’s equivalent is also marketed for Bobcat, Case and John Deere equipment.
Because HF6720 replaces filters in hydraulic housings made by many different manufacturers rather than belonging to one machine, the reliable way to order is by thread size and dimensions, or by one of the numbers above. Please confirm HF6720, or your existing filter’s number, against your equipment’s service manual or the filter you are removing, before ordering. If you are unsure, send us a message with your equipment make and model, or the thread size and dimensions of your old filter, and we will check it with you.
Why Choose Fleetguard?
Fleetguard is Cummins Filtration, and it has built filters as an original equipment supplier for decades rather than reverse-engineering other people’s. On a spin-on hydraulic filter that matters in a specific way: the can is a pressure vessel. It has to hold its seam and its seal through cold-start pressure spikes, and the media inside has to collapse gracefully rather than shedding into the system if it ever plugs. A filter that fails structurally does not merely stop filtering — it feeds its own media downstream into the pump and the valve block. Fleetguard publishes beta ratings at two particle sizes because they are engineering specifications the filter is built to meet, not marketing claims.
Returns
Returns accepted within 30 days through the eBay return request process. The part must be returned in the condition in which it was sent, unused and with the media clean and dry. Please confirm thread size, dimensions and fitment before ordering.
Thank you for looking at this listing. We are a small parts business and we work hard to describe every part accurately, including the condition of NOS packaging. If anything about this part is not what you expected when it arrives, please contact us first and give us the chance to make it right. We will always work with you.
If you have a part number you are hunting for and do not see it listed, send us a message — our inventory is considerably larger than what is posted at any given moment, and we are happy to check the shelves for you.
