Fleetguard Hydraulic Filter Element — Part Number HF6028

Brand: Fleetguard | Condition: New Old Stock (NOS)

Genuine Fleetguard hydraulic filter element, part number HF6028. An American-made open-ended cartridge, 114.8 mm diameter and 180 mm long, rated at 8 micron nominal — a genuinely fine hydraulic element. This is the transmission and hydraulic filter for the Case 2090, 2290, 2294, 2390, 2394, 2590 and 2594 tractors and the International 1896, replacing Case A46403 and A147925. From original dealer stock, in Fleetguard packaging, never fitted.

Condition Details

New Old Stock. The element is new and unused, never installed and never exposed to fluid. As with all NOS stock, the original Fleetguard box or wrapper may show shelf wear, dust, discoloration, crushed corners, or age-related dirt. The part is sold as new; the packaging is sold as-is. The media is clean and dry, the end caps are true and undamaged, and the pleat pack is intact.

This is a fine filter, and that is the point. At 8 micron nominal and 98.7% capture at 11.5 micron, HF6028 is one of the finest hydraulic elements Fleetguard built in this size — far finer than a typical return-line filter. That is correct for a combined transmission and hydraulic circuit, where the fluid feeds both the lift system and the transmission’s control valves. Do not substitute a coarser element here. A 25 or 40 micron filter of the same dimensions will fit and will pass debris the transmission was never designed to see.

Cross references are provided to help identify the correct element. Please verify against your tractor’s service manual before ordering.

One number to be careful with: some cross tables list Case A147295 alongside A147925. A147295 appears to be a transposition of A147925 rather than a separate part. A147925 is the number we have confirmed.

Important — most of these machines take TWO elements

Baldwin supplies the equivalent as PT380-KIT, a set of two elements, and the aftermarket sells it the same way for the Case 2090 through 2590 range. If you are servicing one of these tractors you almost certainly need two, not one. This listing is for a single element unless the quantity above and the photographs state otherwise. Message us if you need a pair — we may have more than one on the shelf.

Features

  • Genuine Fleetguard — the filtration brand of Cummins Filtration, an original equipment supplier rather than a copy house
  • 8 micron nominal, 11.5 micron at Beta 75. The fine grade, which is what a combined transmission and hydraulic circuit requires
  • Made in the United States, to the original Fleetguard specification for these machines
  • Rated at 25.1 GPM, matched to the hydraulic flow these tractors run
  • Fully specified. Outside diameter, both inside diameters, length, gasket dimensions, flow and both efficiency figures are stated above and independently confirmed across three sources
  • Fifteen filter-brand crosses and four OEM numbers, so the element can be identified from whichever number appears in a forty-year-old service record
  • These are 1970s and 1980s Case tractors still in daily work. The parts channel on them is thinning, and correct fine-grade elements are not something to improvise

Case catalogues A46403 as a combined transmission and hydraulic filter kit for these machines.

This is a general application guide. These tractors were built across several years with variations in hydraulic plumbing. Please confirm HF6028, or Case A46403 or A147925, against your tractor’s service manual or the element you are removing, before ordering — and check how many your machine takes. If you are unsure, send us a message with your model and serial number and we will check it with you.

Why Choose Fleetguard?

Fleetguard is Cummins Filtration, and it has built filters as an original equipment supplier for decades rather than reverse-engineering other people’s. On a fine hydraulic element that distinction is structural as well as nominal. An 8 micron rating is only meaningful if the media holds that rating as it loads and holds its pleat geometry under full flow and cold-start pressure differential. An element that collapses does not merely stop filtering — it feeds its own media downstream into the pump and, on a machine like this, into the transmission’s control valves. Fleetguard publishes the beta rating and the rated flow because they are engineering specifications the element is built to meet, not marketing numbers.

Returns

Returns accepted within 30 days through the eBay return request process. The part must be returned in the condition in which it was sent, unused and with the media clean and dry. Please confirm fitment, and the quantity your machine requires, before ordering.

Thank you for looking at this listing. We are a small parts business and we work hard to describe every part accurately, including the condition of NOS packaging and how many of a part your machine is likely to need. If anything about this part is not what you expected when it arrives, please contact us first and give us the chance to make it right. We will always work with you.

If you have a part number you are hunting for and do not see it listed, send us a message — our inventory is considerably larger than what is posted at any given moment, and we are happy to check the shelves for you.
